South Carolina Lt. Governor Makes Disgusting Eugenics Comments

By Brandon Turbeville - BLN Contributing Writer

While South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer has had a reputation for his obnoxious and irresponsible behavior for at least a few years, it appears his latest display has rivaled, if not topped, his previous endeavors. As the South Carolina Governor’s race begins to pick up steam, Bauer spoke at a town hall meeting last Thursday where his remarks have drawn a significant amount of criticism. This is due to the fact that during the course of his speech he likened welfare recipients to stray animals and suggested that they breed too much. (AP)

Bauer said: “My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed! You’re facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don’t think too much beyond that.” (AP)

After being confronted with criticism from rival candidates Bauer said his comments were taken out of context and that he wishes he would have used a different metaphor. He said that he believes the government should expect welfare recipients to “better themselves” as well as require them to take drug tests and attend parent-teacher conferences. (AP)

Bauer’s previous exploits have placed him under the spotlight before. In 2006, he crashed an airplane under questionable circumstances and was twice stopped for speeding but not ticketed. (AP/WISTV) On the instance where he actually did receive a ticket, Bauer ended up with a suspended license due to his failure to pay it.(WISTV) Just recently, after Gov. Mark Sanford had been caught spending taxpayer money to see his mistress in Argentina, as well as leaving his post without leaving anyone in charge, the state congress convened to determine whether or not impeachment was in order. Bauer took this opportunity to make the rather bizarre offer that if Sanford were to step down or be impeached, he [Bauer] would not run for Governor. Obviously, Sanford refused and Bauer announced his candidacy. (The State)

Although Bauer’s sketchy record should be enough for voters to view his campaign with much skepticism on its’ own, his recent comments should illicit even more concern. His issue with how much certain members of the population breed and his suggestion that an ample food supply is part of the problem is very disturbing. Especially when viewed in light of comments made by many other high-level government officials, academics, bureaucrats, and politicians worldwide in what appears to be an ever-burgeoning eugenics movement that is now becoming more and more open and pervasive. In October of last year New Zealand Mayor Michael Laws said something very similar when he stated: “it would be far better for this appalling underclass to be offered financial inducements not to have children, given the toxic environment that they would provide for any child in their care.”(News.com) President Obama’s Chief Science Advisor John P. Holdren has gone even further in suggesting in his book “Ecoscience” that a planetary regime should be created that would forcibly sterilize the population. (Infowars) Indeed, such a view does not appear to be an exception but the rule amongst those in the profession of “governance” as the list of those who have made similar statements goes on and on.

Bauer’s comments sound like something straight out of a Bilderberg meeting and the idea of this man holding any office, even that of the relatively benign office of Lt. Governor should cause immense concern. It is a frightening thought to imagine Bauer as Governor, especially at a time when everything could come down to a Governor having to decide on important issues like federally mandated gun confiscation and the like.
